Jungian psychology is based on the work of the eminent Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and his 50 year study of the psyche. It embodies a unique approach of working with both the conscious and unconscious mind. Jung believed that the unconscious holds the potential for the development of our individual creativity and spirituality and can appear symbolically in dreams, life experiences and bodily symptoms. He also found that aspects of the unconscious mind which are not recognized, or which manifest as faulty attitudes, can prevent the desired connection to our most authentic self.

The goal of Jungian psychotherapy is to recognize and integrate the unknown parts of ourselves in order to relieve suffering and fully become who we are. While this process takes courage, the benefits can include self acceptance, wisdom and the ability to free oneself from others’ expectations for our life’s path.

"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious."

- Carl Jung, 1954
